Konami seems increasingly committed to reviving its most iconic franchises. Surprisingly, the Japanese developer has had a space in the most recent Nintendo Direct where they took advantage of announcing ‘Contra: Operation Galuga‘.

It is a new version based on the iconic first installment that was released on NES. The first trailer shows us the classic characters traveling through different scenarios facing all types of enemies, including stage bosses that will surely be a headache and we will have to show our best reflexes to get ahead.

The interesting thing about Contra: Operation Galuga is that it is being developed by WayForwardthe studio behind the saga Shantae and that in 2007 he worked on ‘Contra 4‘ which came out on Nintendo DS. Californians have busy months as they are involved in more than one project. In addition to having the responsibility of reviving Konami’s classic IP, they are also working on the return of ‘Clock Tower‘.

The title will be arriving in 2024 and will include mode for up to four players. It remains to be seen if, in addition to Switch, it will reach other platforms such as PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
