On October 8th at 9:55 PM, EBS1 aired Architectural Exploration House – ‘Experiment! The episode ‘As if it’s your last home in life’ will be broadcast.

Between admiration and bewilderment, a house where the point becomes the whole.

Kim Hee-jun and Lee Kang-mi live in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do. His wife, Lee Kang-mi, who believes that home is not only a comfortable place but also a source of inspiration, pursued novelty rather than familiarity when building a home. He said that even the flashy or unique interior gave his wife a spirit of challenge, saying, “There’s nothing that can’t be done with a house.” A wife who wanted to do whatever she wanted without being tied down to anything. Thanks to this, every guest who stops by the unique house is amazed. What unique features is this house filled with that catches your eye at first glance?

His wife, Lee Kang-mi, said her hobby was looking at tiles at a tile store. The tile that caught my wife’s eye was a point tile with a colorful pattern usually used in bathrooms. Despite the dissuasion of construction experts, broken-looking tiles were laid all over the living room floor. It’s not just this. From the carpeted stairs, to the kitchen painted entirely in black to give the feeling of a separate space, to the study on the second floor finished with rough plywood rather than wood. It is said that even construction experts were curious about the series of rare experiments, asking, ‘Are they really doing this?’ Every time that happened, my wife confidently answered, ‘That’s right.’

“I was worried at first, because this was a house that did so many things that others told it not to do.”
However, his wife Lee Kang-mi said that she was not without worries as she was spending a lot of money to build a one-time home. In fact, it is said that during the process of finishing the second floor study space with plywood, they shed tears because the color they wanted did not come out… Since it was a bold attempt that others did not make, the feeling of despair when it failed was doubled, but once they overcame this, the study became a place where the couple could live. It was completed into a space that feels more fulfilling.

“If I do what I want, nothing big will happen.”
My wife always had concerns and conflicts when faced with unusual choices, but in the end, she was always able to muster courage in front of the clear goal of having her own special home. Husband Kim Hee-jun, who has always been a strong supporter of his wife, is happy to be able to enjoy what others do not have.

A special house was born after struggling to create not just a ‘unique house’ but ‘our house’ that is different from others! We visit a house where the experimental spirit of the owner, who has tried everything he wanted to do, shines.

I can’t stand being bored! Entertainment PD’s fun-filled home

Jeon Hwi-je and Shin Min-ah live in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do. It is said that the reason the client couple started building a house on a sack-shaped piece of land at the very end of a housing complex was ‘because they thought they could build an interesting house.’ The most important thing that my husband Jeon Hwi-je, who works as an entertainment producer, thought about when building a house was none other than a ‘fun space’. What kind of interesting spaces can there be in a house built on land that everyone has avoided?

As soon as I saw the shape of the land, my husband, Jeon Hwi-je, thought that there could be three yards. It is said that one yard each at the front and back, and a courtyard at the open side were created using the jagged land from front to back. They say that one is used as a yard for the family to enjoy, one for the wife to garden, and one for contemplation that is easy to maintain. My husband, who thought of creating a concept for each space, gave each space in the house a variety of characteristics. A black kitchen with a modern feel, a mid-century concept living room, and a special space that takes full advantage of the differences in levels. Because each space makes you feel like you are in a different place, Shin Min-ah, his wife, says she feels like time flies even when she is just at home.

“High floor height, many steps”
This house, which looks like a three-story house at first glance from the outside, is actually a two-story house. The house, which has a raised ceiling instead of having a third floor, gives a feeling of large space as soon as you enter. In addition, a step was lowered in the living room to make the floor height appear higher, and in the second floor family room, a step was used to save corner space to create a round, flat window seat. A flat space was reborn as an interesting space by combining steps. There is another space full of experimental spirit. My husband, Jeon Hwi-je, decided to install an open-air bath, which he had always dreamed of, in the master bathroom, so he designed the bathroom first and then created a bedroom using the remaining space.

From the bedroom where the guests are spread out, to the living room in a style that is hard to find in an ordinary home… We visit the home of an interesting entertainment producer who makes people gasp in every space.
