A warm trip that will warm your body and mind! When winter comes, Philippines
A special winter on a romantic tropical island in the Philippines. A world of tropical rainforests that are greener in winter. A journey filled with warmth at every step, unforgettable memories.
Midwinter, we are going to the Philippines!
Siquijor, a mysterious island shrouded in mystery
Siargao, a story of a hot island and people, full of romance and passion
Breath of the magnificent Mother Nature, a place of great life, Pampanga, Laguna
Amazing scenery created by time and nature Manila, Tagaytay
Manila, the capital and first city of the Philippines. There is a walled city here called ‘Little Spain’. This is Intramuros, where traces of the Spanish occupation period are clearly engraved. Intramuros, which means ‘within the walls’ in Spanish, is a walled city built by Spanish conquistadors in 1571 and was the political and cultural center of the Spanish colonial era. The 3.4km wall built to block the Filipino people and external forces still stands and serves as a reminder of times past. As time passed, the traces of Spain and the leap of the Philippines came together to create a complex culture. Enjoy Flamenco, a dance that originated in Spain, taste Spanish and Filipino food together, and feel the passage of time engraved in culture.
The next destination was Lubong-Nangoloan Falls, a hidden attraction loved by local Filipinos. The waterfall arrived on a ox cart pulled by water buffalo. This ‘local hot place’ is a relatively quiet tourist attraction that started spreading by word of mouth on social media. Throughout the three sections of the long, deep waterfall, there are valleys that are great for swimming. Youth diving is in full swing at the highest waterfall! The sight of a person jumping off a waterfall surrounded by rocks without hesitation is like a scene from a youth movie.
Leaving the waterfall, we head to another place loved by locals. Taal Volcano is a place so meaningful to Filipinos that it is depicted on Philippine banknotes. Inside a crater formed by a volcanic eruption hundreds of millions of years ago, another volcanic eruption created another crater. Thanks to this unique event, a unique landform was created within a caldera lake, with another caldera lake. The world’s smallest volcano, created by the second volcanic eruption, is Taal Volcano.
Taal Volcano, which is still an active volcano, erupted in 2020. At the time, residents who used the volcano as their base to engage in tourism lost both their homes and workplaces. But even in the midst of ruins, hope sprouts. Although they still sleep in the ruins and have to eat only fish for their meals, the residents of the volcano await tomorrow with gratitude. The sky displays a double rainbow, blessing their future.
The last part of the journey is time to enjoy Kawa Spa, a special leisure experience in Tagaytay. A unique bathing method that melts away fatigue by soaking the body in a cauldron. Light a fire under a huge cauldron, brew eucalyptus leaves and rose petals, and enjoy a bath. I hesitated for a moment at the sight as if I was about to boil soup(?), and my fear melted away as the warmth penetrated my whole body. As you enjoy a comfortable rest while watching the sunset, your body and mind are bathed in the warm glow of the sunset.
The perfect way to enjoy warmth in the middle of winter. We conclude our ‘When Winter Comes, Philippines’ journey by reflecting on the warm moments in the Philippines that took away the chill of winter.
