[세상에 나쁜 개는 없다] The episode ‘The Dog Groomer’s Embarrassing Dog’ will be broadcast on EBS1TV at 10:50 pm on Friday, November 8.
A dog groomer who has been providing grooming services to rescued dogs for a long time so that they can be adopted into good places. He is a veteran groomer who takes good care of even sensitive and picky dogs, but there is one dog he cannot control: his dog Daniel. It is said that the embarrassing behavior of Daniel, the dog, has led to many embarrassing moments for both adolescent children and guests… What is Mr. Seol’s solution for the health of this embarrassing senior dog?
A 25-year veteran dog groomer said that since he started working at a dog grooming shop inside a pet shop, he has witnessed countless sick puppies coming from breeding farms dying. After witnessing such terrible scenes, he thought, ‘How can we protect dogs?’ and actively participated in the movement to insert animal protection chips into dogs. Now, as a dog groomer, he is actively engaged in grooming volunteer work to help adopt rescued dogs. They say they feel rewarded every time they see puppies being adopted into good places through this process.
Although he is a veteran who handles grooming for picky and sensitive dogs, there is one dog he cannot control: his dog Daniel. The guardian has tried to prevent the embarrassing behavior (mounting) that he frequently engages in, but there are many concerns that Daniel, an elderly dog, may die early due to the increasingly serious problem behavior.
It is said that the veteran dog groomer’s three dogs are all abandoned dogs with strange stories… The first, Daniel, was tied to the mountain with a broken tailbone and hind legs, and was rescued and brought here after being adopted once. Daniel, who was the biggest consolation to his guardians when his mother, who was suffering from cancer, passed away recently, is the guardian’s ally. Since he is an old dog, all of his teeth have fallen out and he was very sick early this year, so the owner was very worried that something might go wrong with Daniel. Fortunately, Daniel overcame the crisis and became healthy. However, guardians are said to be very worried due to problem behavior (severe mounting) that cannot be corrected.
The second child, Miracle, is suffering from pain after undergoing back surgery due to a ruptured disc after being rescued, and the third child, Herb, is said to have severe atopic dermatitis and has no dry skin anywhere…
Teacher Seol has come to teach us how to get along well with three old dogs! In particular, the reason and solution for Daniel’s compulsive mounting Let’s look into it medically and behaviorally. The ‘Dog Groomer’s Embarrassing Dog’ episode will be broadcast on EBS 1TV at 10:50 pm on Friday, November 8, and can be viewed again on the EBS website.

Interview Transcript: Time.news Exclusive with Dog Grooming Expert Mr. Seol
Editor: Good evening, Mr. Seol. It’s a pleasure to have you with us today. As a veteran dog groomer with 25 years of experience, you’ve seen it all in the world of canines. Your work with rescued dogs is particularly inspiring. Can you tell us what led you to become so passionate about animal welfare?
Mr. Seol: Thank you for having me! My journey began when I started working in a pet shop that included a grooming facility. I was shocked to witness the dire condition of puppies coming from breeding farms. Many were sick, and some didn’t survive. That experience lit a fire in me. I realized that I could use my skills not just for grooming, but to advocate for these animals and contribute to their welfare.
Editor: That’s truly commendable. You’ve been a part of initiatives to introduce animal protection chips for dogs. Can you share more about how these chips work and their significance in protecting animals?
Mr. Seol: Absolutely! These chips serve as a form of identification for pets. They contain information about the owner and medical history, which is crucial in case a dog goes missing or gets into trouble. The program aims to encourage responsible pet ownership and helps to reduce the number of stray dogs. It’s a step toward better managing our pets’ health and safety.
Editor: It sounds like your day-to-day work must be incredibly rewarding, especially when you see dogs finding loving homes. Can you describe a particularly memorable moment from your grooming volunteer work?
Mr. Seol: There have been many heartwarming moments, but one that stands out is when I groomed a scruffy little rescue dog named Bella. She was terrified at first, but as I worked with her patiently, she began to trust me. When we finished and she looked in the mirror for the first time, she seemed to recognize her beauty and wagged her tail for the first time. Later, she was adopted by a wonderful family. Those moments remind me why I do this work.
Editor: You’ve mentioned that despite all your expertise, there’s one dog you have difficulty managing – your own dog, Daniel. Can you share what challenges Daniel has presented, and what you’re doing to address them?
Mr. Seol: (laughs) Yes, Daniel is quite a character! Though I’ve dealt with many sensitive and picky dogs, he has this peculiar habit of mounting that has been quite embarrassing in social situations. As an elderly dog, he faces some health challenges, which makes those behaviors more concerning. I’ve been consulting with veterinarians and behaviorists to better understand his needs and find solutions that ensure his health—while also managing our home environment.
Editor: It must be a unique experience to navigate both the professional and personal aspects of dog grooming. What advice would you give to other pet owners who are struggling with similar behavioral issues in their pets?
Mr. Seol: Patience is key. Understanding why a pet behaves in a certain way often involves looking at their past experiences and health. I recommend consulting a veterinarian to rule out health issues, and maybe even a professional trainer who specializes in behavior. Every dog is different, and finding the right approach takes time and commitment.
Editor: Thank you for those insights, Mr. Seol. As we wrap up, what message do you want to share with viewers about the role of grooming in overall pet health?
Mr. Seol: Grooming is not just about making a pet look good; it’s an essential part of their health care. Regular grooming helps to identify skin problems, ticks, or other health issues early on. It’s a bonding experience and can significantly enhance a pet’s quality of life. I urge all pet owners to prioritize grooming as an integral aspect of their pets’ well-being.
Editor: Thank you so much for your time, Mr. Seol. Your dedication to animal welfare is truly inspiring. We look forward to your episode on EBS1TV discussing dogs and their needs further!
Mr. Seol: Thank you! I’m excited for everyone to see it. It’s a chance to spread awareness about responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.
