Gurim Village, where 2,200 years of history live on

Gurim Village is a village where twelve villages have come together to form one. Here, Mr. Hyeon Sam-sik, the 18th generation descendant of the Yeonju Hyeon clan, is called the old master. In his house, there is a precious space related to Admiral Yi Sun-sin. It is a pavilion called Jukrimjeong! During the Imjin War, Admiral Yi Sun-sin sent a letter here that said, “If there is no Honam, it is no state.” As it has a long history, there are many great people who were born and raised here and became famous in later generations. Representative figures include Doseon Guksa, Wangin Parksa, and Han Seok-bong. At Yukwoo-dang, where Mr. Han Seok-bong and his mother are said to have fought by turning off the lights, Mr. Han Seok-bong’s calligraphy remains as a signboard. Let’s follow in the footsteps of these people with Mr. Hyeon Sam-sik.

A healing shelter for people, Hanok Cafe

There is a special space in Gurim Village run by Mr. Choi In-gyu and his daughter. It is a Hanok cafe that was remodeled from his mother’s Hanok. While preserving the Hanok structure, the interior has been remodeled to make it comfortable like a home, making it a resting place for those who need to rest. In particular, when you sit by the window, you can see the foot of Wolchulsan Mountain at a glance, which makes guests feel at ease. We meet a father and daughter who sometimes disagree, but are happier together.

Shinpung Village, continuing the tradition by making Mosit Leaf Songpyeon
In hot summers like these, there is something that the women of Shinpung Village make and eat: Mosit Leaf Songpyeon. It is a local food that the villagers have been eating for a long time, but the number of people who can make it is gradually disappearing! So, Bae Jae-hee, who makes traditional food, is continuing the tradition by teaching neighbors and people who have returned to farming or the countryside how to make it. Mosit Leaf Songpyeon is said to be sold during holidays and contribute to the income of farmers! What does it taste like?
