Kyungmin, a brave 7-year-old who washes and changes clothes by himself every morning. Kyungmin grew up calling his grandmother “Mom” since his mother left home when he was two. Recently, Kyungmin’s beloved grandmother has been hospitalized for over a month after undergoing back and leg surgery. Kyungmin, who misses his grandmother, is waiting endlessly for his sick grandmother and his grandfather, who is taking care of her, to return. It is quite difficult for his father, Woojoong, who has a speech impediment, to pack Kyungmin’s food and take him to kindergarten by himself.

Kyungmin’s grandmother fell over the threshold of her room about two months ago, but she couldn’t get surgery right away because she didn’t have enough money to pay for the hospital bill. Eventually, the bacteria in her knee spread throughout her body, leading to sepsis, and her life was in danger. She underwent emergency surgery on her back and legs, but she is currently unable to bend one of her legs and cannot sit or stand on her own. She will need additional surgeries and continuous rehabilitation treatment in the future, but the hospital bill is already well over 10 million won, and the family is at a loss as to how they will pay it. Kyungmin’s father, who has a speech impediment, cannot find a proper job, so he does farm work as a side job in the neighborhood when it comes up, and his income is not much. I feel sorry for not being able to get my grandmother surgery on time, and I cry constantly because I am worried about the ever-increasing hospital bill.
