Raising a daughter with autism alone
Mother fighting stage 4 colon cancer

“I am timid, weak, and sad on the inside, but that also makes it difficult for the people around me. I think that’s why I don’t talk about my pain. “I think I’m just pretending to be brave and calm.” – mom

Mother Hana (48), who was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, has been fighting a difficult battle against cancer cells for three years. In addition to fighting cancer, I am having a painful time every day due to the side effects of chemotherapy, such as rashes and vomiting. After surgery for colon cancer, the cancer spread to the ovaries and she underwent difficult treatment, including removal of the uterus, but the reason Hana was able to endure it was because she had a daughter, Seo-yoon (16), who has autism. Six years ago, Ms. Hana, who raised Seoyoon alone after divorcing her husband, quit her job of 18 years to treat Seoyoon’s autism and worked as an activity assistant for the disabled, living only for Seoyun. Even after being diagnosed with cancer, he tried his best to stay strong, but when he thought about his daughter who would be left alone after he left, he became worried.

A disabled daughter shows hope to her mother

Seoyun will be in her third year of middle school this year, but her cognitive level remains at that of a 3 or 4 year old. It’s difficult to even get dressed and wash, so daily life is impossible without mom’s help. She often expresses her emotions through tears, so her mother, Hana, feels sad every time she sees Seo-yoon. In fact, Seo-yoon couldn’t speak at all, but after receiving speech therapy, she gradually became able to speak and write various words, starting with the word ‘mom.’ These small changes in Seo-yoon gave hope to her mother, Hana. I sincerely hope that one day Seoyoon will be able to talk to other people. To achieve this, she earns money by working as an assistant for the disabled, but it is ridiculously insufficient to cover her own hospital and living expenses, as well as Seo-yoon’s medical expenses.

So that mother Hana can protect her daughter Seo-yoon.
Please send your love

Mother Hana is currently receiving targeted chemotherapy to treat cancer that has spread to the peritoneum. Fortunately, it is said that the cancer cells decreased slightly after treatment. In order for mother Hana to be with her daughter Seo-yoon even a little longer, she needs continuous targeted anti-cancer treatment. The problem is the treatment cost, which is well over a million won per month. I want to protect Seo-yoon at least until she grows up, but since I am working while fighting cancer, my physical strength is gradually decreasing. We ask for your warm interest and love so that mother Hana can receive chemotherapy without worrying about hospital costs and can protect her only daughter, Seo-yoon.
