The musician Antonio Salieri is admitted to a mental hospital after making an extreme attempt. He confesses to a priest who visits him at the hospital that he killed Mozart, and confesses the deep anguish and anger he had endured during that time. Salieri, who had dreamed of becoming a composer since childhood, decided that he would dedicate the rest of his life to God if only God would allow him to live as a musician. However, his pious faith is shattered when he meets the vulgar and vulgar composer Mozart. Salieri feels extremely betrayed by the fact that the God he so admired gave a heavenly talent to a man who was far from noble. And he decides to take revenge on God who drove him to despair by eliminating Mozart.

subject:

This is an adaptation of the play of the same name by author Peter Shaffer in 1979. It is set after Mozart left Salzburg and depicts the fictional relationship between Mozart and Italian composer Antonio Salieri. The film follows the turbulent life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who had a sublime talent from heaven but was also a flawed and vulgar person, centering on the conflict between two characters who are clearly divided into genius and mediocrity, light and darkness, nobility and vulgarity, and good and evil. The original author Shaffer also described this story as a ‘fantasy based on the theme of Mozart and Salieri.’

Points to note:

Since its release, it has received critical acclaim and has been a huge box office hit worldwide. After being nominated for 11 categories at the 1985 Academy Awards, it won a total of 8 awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Art Direction, and Best Cinematography. It also won 4 awards at the British Academy Awards (BAFTA) and the Golden Globe Awards. Mozart’s music is spread throughout the film, pleasing to the ear, and the gorgeous and beautiful art, costumes, and choreography present performance scenes that are comparable to an actual opera stage. F. Abraham, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor, played the role of Salieri, a musician who gradually goes mad due to jealousy for the talent he does not have and resentment toward God, while Tom Hulce, who was nominated for Best Actor with him, played the role of Mozart, who hides his ecstatic genius beneath his frivolous and vulgar personality.
