Today (August 10th), EBS1 will air ‘The Getaway’, directed by Peter Yates.
Released in 1972, ”The Getaway” is an American action film directed by Sam Peckinpah and starring Steve McQueen, Ali MacGraw, Ben Johnson, and Al Lethierry. Running time: 122 minutes. Rated for ages 15 and up.
Plot:
McCoy, a man willing to do anything for money, finds himself in jail due to his illegal activities. His wife Carol approaches corrupt politician Jack to get him released early, and thanks to him, McCoy is released from prison and enjoys his newfound freedom. However, his peace is short-lived when Jack demands something from him in return. To fulfill this request, McCoy gathers his colleagues and plans to rob a bank, but tragedy ensues when a security guard is killed during the heist. One of McCoy’s colleagues betrays him and attempts to escape with the money, while Jack tries to persuade Carol to betray McCoy. Carol ultimately joins McCoy on the run, and together they face pursuit from the police. As their perilous journey continues, the couple’s relationship evolves from distrust to trust and reconciliation.
