Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, the city of time travelers
Thailand is delicious, if you like it, Chiang Mai
Great Legacy from the Beginning to the End, Sukhothai Bangkok
Bangkok, unfamiliar yet charming

To see the great heritage of Thailand, we head to Ayutthaya, a city in the lower reaches of the Chao Phraya River Delta. At the time, the Ayutthaya Dynasty was so powerful that it was considered one of the three great powers of Asia along with China and India. The Ayutthaya Historical Park, where its splendid cultural heritage remains, is full of Buddha statues with severed arms and heads. Among them, the place where people stop by is Wat Mahathat. The roots of the Bodhi tree where Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment are embracing the head of the Buddha statue. It is a place where the unchanging smile of mercy resonates deeply with people even through its turbulent history.

As the rainy season approaches, the whole of Thailand is bustling with Khao Phansa. Khao Phansa is one of the five major Buddhist festivals in Thailand, and it is a festival that marks the beginning of the monks’ retreat. The procession of over 180 colorful boats carrying candles for the monks’ retreat along the old canals is a spectacular sight. Immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere of the entire town dancing and having fun, and try Roti Sai Mai, Thailand’s national snack that originated in Ayutthaya.

Leaving Ayutthaya, we head to Kanchanaburi, near the Myanmar border. This is the setting for the movie, and many people were killed during the construction of the railway during World War II. We head toward the Valley of Death, a dangerous section carved out of a steep cliff. It is a place with a heartbreaking history, but now we take a short break at a lodging with a view of the River Kwai, where only the quiet and peaceful sounds can be heard.

Next stop is the Erawan Waterfall, with its emerald waters that pour down over seven steps. Be intoxicated by the beautiful colors of the waterfall and be surprised by the doctor fish that dive into the water! After a short break, we walk through the forest and meet a Mon couple from Myanmar who are collecting rubber tree sap. We spend a warm time working with the couple who produce natural rubber and listening to their stories.
