The first and final journey involves time travel to the past through the oracle bone inscription found at the Yinhe Museum in Anyang, Henan Province, and the exciting anecdotes related to it. Afterwards, try Taokou Grilled Chicken (道口烧鸡), a specialty dish with over 300 years of history. It originated from chicken prepared by the imperial chef during the Qing Dynasty’s Shunzhi era, and is as famous as Peking duck around the world.
Find out the secret to the family’s success at Ma’s mansion, Ma’s Manor, visited by Empress Dowager Cixi (1835-1908), who exercised supreme power during the Qing Dynasty. Next, we go to Handan, Hebei Province, the city of ancient idioms. The number of ancient idioms originating from Handan, the capital of the Wei and Zhao Dynasties, is about 1,500. It is a place where you can find interesting old stories wherever you go. Visit Handando (邯鄲道), a historic road that runs through the city, learn about the ‘perfection’ associated with Im Sang-yeo (藺相如), prime minister of the Zhao Dynasty during the Warring States Period, and hear about an anecdote with general Yeom-pa (廉頗).
Visit the birthplace of Qin Shi Huang and hear the secret story of his birth as well as the story of Zichu and Lu Buwei, and get caught up in the festive atmosphere as the Zhongzhou season approaches. Go to There, you can enjoy a performance about Impressionyeo and Yeompa. Why did Yeom-pa go to In-sang-yeo with a whip on his back and ask for forgiveness?
The last place we visited was Shen Nong Mountain (Shennong Mountain), which honors Shen Nong, the god of farming. After listening to the story of Yanje Shennong (炎帝神農), which will make you hit your knees, climb the Yongcheok Wall (龍脊長城), a ridge curved like a dragon’s spine, and finish your journey by listening to the greetings of white pine trees.
