This week (April 8 to 11, 2024), the 4-part series ‘Following the Legend of Spain’ will be broadcast on ‘World Theme Travel’. Part 1, ‘There Lived a Giant, Pyrenees’, will be aired today (8th) at 8:40 PM on EBS1 TV.

The legend of the Pyrenean princess and the giant Hercules, Pyrenees

The first journey begins in the Pyrenees Mountains (Los Pirineos), which borders France. The legend of the Pyrenean princess and the giant Hercules was there. The Aguas Tuertas Valley, a winding waterway 1,600 meters above sea level that looks like the beginning of time, adds depth to the legend of the Pyrenees Mountains.

Anso, a mountain village in the Pyrenees. As it is a village where many children and young people live, the adults are as innocent and bright as children. Mr. Enrique, who was the former village chief of Anso, was kind and offered to use his house as a lodging. The old bakery I came across on the way home adds to my memories. The romantic guitar performance of Mr. Enrique and his wife in the rock wall living room of the Pyrenees Mountains is exquisite.

Hondarribia, a border city with France. As fate would have it, wars with France were frequent. You can admire the greatness of protecting the village by looking at the gate, the armory, and the statue of the village fisherman holding a saw, with traces of shells left behind. Meanwhile, the colorful houses also contain stories of fishermen. Dine on seafood on the Atlantic coast and taste the food of fishermen.

Head to the cliff village of Castellfollit de la Roca. A village built in an unusual location. It is believed that one of the two giants in the legend is still alive, so the Haedama Giant Festival is held… Enjoy the amazing scenery of Roka from the accommodation across town.

EBS1’s ‘World Theme Travel’, a travel program that delivers real-life experiences, is broadcast every Monday to Thursday at 8:40 PM.
