Two years ago, guardian Seong Woo-hyeon (62) settled in his hometown of Buyeo, South Chungcheong Province, to achieve his dream of a romantic country life. With the ambition to do good things in the world, he adopted one or two foster children into his family, and is currently living in the countryside with four Border Collies, a Chow Chow, and five dogs. A guardian who dreamed of a romantic life by drinking coffee while listening to the sound of rain, listening to his favorite LP music, and enjoying camping with his children. However, as the battle for rank between the males has become prolonged, they have been living in fear of a major accident, let alone a romantic life, for a year now. Tori, a Chow Chow who is always the target of attacks by border collie calls, has become accustomed to sitting blankly on one side of the dog kennel. A dog war that once fought ends only after seeing blood! Will fall, full of romance, be as friendly as before for both the guardian and the Chow Chow Tori?
Tori, the royal dog, Chow Chow! What is the story of becoming a loner in the back room?
A handsome bear lives in the highest house in town? This is Tori, a 3-year-old Chow Chow with fluffy fur and deep-set eyes. The Chow Chow, also known as the lion dog, was raised by the Chinese imperial family. However, his elegant appearance is everywhere and he enjoys the solitude alone in his silk room. What is the story behind this? Border collie leader Cole and Chow Chow Tori had a small battle for rank, just like any other male. However, after Cole’s son Stanley was adopted, Cole’s aggression worsened. Perhaps because of his paternal love to protect his son, he watches Tori in the dog house, growls whenever Tori approaches Stanley, barks fiercely at the slightest movement, and when he accidentally encounters Stanley, he corners Tori in a sheep-herding manner and bites her. Tori spent more and more time in the small house, started avoiding calls, and became a loner for a year. The way the guardian comforts Tori is to take a walk alone, but even that means he has no choice but to return quickly due to the border collies’ barking. The guardian is worried that if this continues, he will become distant from Tori forever.
Romance-destroying dogs that destroy romantic dad’s bucket list!
The dog that destroys the romantic life that is on the guardian’s bucket list is Stanley, a border collie who is a troublemaker. Not only the expensive camping equipment but also the turntable was damaged, rendering about 5,000 LPs useless. Also, Stanley’s mother, Coco, cried every time she made coffee, so he couldn’t even drink coffee at night. Dreaming of traveling around the country with his children, the camping truck he remodeled himself is only taking up space in one corner of the yard. Although the guardian’s romantic life is gradually being ruined, the guardian is glad that the children do not fight. The serious problem is that son Stanley is taking after his father Cole’s behavior. Meanwhile, the Border Collie family’s group bullying of Tori continues, with even mother Coco joining in. In the past, the five dogs lived in one space without any barriers, and instead of fighting, they camped together and played together every day and became close friends. as the fight continued, the guardian had no choice but to create another silk thread in the silk thread… Will Tori and Cole be able to become close like before again?

Interview: The Challenges of Coexisting with Dogs – An Insight with Guardian Seong Woo-hyeon
Time.news Editor: Good day, everyone! Today, we’re here with Seong Woo-hyeon, a guardian from Buyeo, who has captured the hearts of many with his journey of adopting dogs, particularly Tori, his Chow Chow. Seong, thank you for joining us.
Seong Woo-hyeon: Thank you for having me! I’m excited to share my experiences.
Editor: Your story is both heartwarming and eye-opening. You moved to the countryside with dreams of a romantic life surrounded by nature and family. However, things didn’t quite turn out as planned, especially with your canine companions. Can you tell us about what led to the challenges you faced?
Seong: Yes, it’s been quite a journey. I wanted to create a serene environment where my children could experience the beauty of country life and enjoy time with our adopted dogs. Initially, all was peaceful, but as we added more dogs to the family, particularly the Border Collies, dynamics shifted. Cole, our Border Collie leader, became aggressive, especially after the arrival of his son, Stanley, which turned Tori’s life upside down.
Editor: Tori seems to be in a particularly vulnerable position among your dogs. What can you tell us about his character and how he has coped with this turmoil?
Seong: Tori is such a gentle soul. Despite being a Chow Chow, which historically symbolizes strength and royalty, he has become isolated due to the bullying from the Border Collies. Over the past year, he has increasingly withdrawn, preferring to stay in his safe space away from the others. It breaks my heart to see him like this; he deserves a happy life, not one filled with anxiety.
Editor: It sounds heart-wrenching. Your role as a guardian is multifaceted—caring for both the emotional and physical needs of Tori and managing the dynamics among the dogs. How do you cope with the difficulties, especially given that your attempts to maintain a romantic life have also been disrupted?
Seong: It’s definitely been challenging; my vision of enjoying cozy evenings with my children and dogs has often been marred by chaos. Stanley has a mischievous streak—he’s chewed up precious camping gear and even damaged our LP records. While I am grateful that my children don’t fight, I worry about the internal conflict in our home. I try to comfort Tori by taking him on solo walks, though it’s tough because the barking often drives me back inside.
Editor: It’s a balancing act, for sure! What are your hopes moving forward for Tori and the other dogs? Is there a potential resolution on the horizon?
Seong: My hope is that Tori will eventually feel safe and be able to reintegrate into the family dynamics. I’m considering consulting a professional dog trainer to help manage the aggression and ensure a harmonious environment. It’s also important for me to reinforce positive behaviors among all my dogs to foster a supportive atmosphere. I believe with the right guidance, we can reshape our home into the peaceful sanctuary I envisioned.
Editor: That sounds like a positive approach. For those out there facing similar challenges, what advice would you offer them?
Seong: I’d say patience and understanding are key. Each dog has its unique personality and needs. It’s important to be observant, recognize signs of stress, and intervene appropriately. Building a routine, setting boundaries, and providing plenty of love can go a long way in nurturing a peaceful home. Most importantly, don’t hesitate to seek professional help if needed; it can make all the difference.
Editor: Wise words, Seong! Thank you so much for sharing your story with us today. It’s a testament to the complexities of being a pet guardian and the unconditional love we all strive for with our furry friends.
Seong: Thank you for having me! I hope my story resonates with others and encourages a greater understanding of our four-legged companions.
Editor: And to our readers, stay tuned as we continue to explore the heartfelt connections we share with our pets. Let’s work towards creating a nurturing environment for every member of our family—two-legged or four!
