The following is the full text of Goyang Special Mayor Lee Dong-hwan’s New Year’s address.
Dear Goyang special citizens, nice to meet you. This is Lee Dong-hwan, Goyang Special Market.
First, we express our deepest condolences to the victims and their families who lost their lives in the heartbreaking Muan aircraft accident that occurred at the end of last year. We offer our condolences to the citizens who were surprised to hear the news of the accident, and we will help Goyang Special City share the pain of the tragedy and overcome this period of sadness together.
The eventful year 2024 has already passed, and the new year of 2025 has arrived.
To the citizens who spent the end of the year with a heavy heart in a chaotic social atmosphere, I would like to greet you with the hope that the bright new year will bring new hope. We express our respect and gratitude to all of you who have quietly maintained your position by practicing love and sharing with your neighbors even in difficult situations.
2024 was a year filled with more brilliant achievements than ever before. The numerous changes that have occurred in all areas of the city have completely changed the future of Goyang Special City. The 1.08 million citizens were at the center of the growth of Goyang Special City into what it is today. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of you who have always shown interest and support based on your affection for Goyang Special City.
It’s a new year, and we look forward to the success this year will bring, as much as the achievements we achieved last year. We hope that in 2025, you will continue to be Goyang Special City’s ‘power to change the future!’ and become a partner moving toward a new tomorrow.
