A trip to find hidden attractions in Muju with him! There is a village in Muju that enjoys a special festival?!

The village of Dumun (斗文), which means ‘language’, is said to have never stopped the sound of reading in every house since ancient times. The traditional fireworks show, Nakhwa (落花) that the students of Dumun’s Seodang, who were overflowing with academic enthusiasm, enjoyed! It was named ‘Nakhwa (落花)’ because the fireworks fluttering in the wind looked like falling flowers.

The games of scholars in the past have now become the lively festivals of the people of Dumun Village. The lively festival preparations are short, and even Mt. Geumgang is a sight to behold after a meal. Since ancient times, there has been something that cannot be missed on feast days, and that is rice cake! Among them, injeolmi is a heartfelt feast rice cake made by the villagers working together. When the villagers gather together, pound rice cakes, roughly cut injeolmi covered in red bean paste, and share it, this is the taste of a festival!

Time to make Nakhwabong with grandmothers with 20 years of experience. Mulberry charcoal powder, salt, dried mugwort, etc. are wrapped in Korean paper and rolled well, ready to light up Muju! In the darkened sky, special fireworks created by Dumun Village decorate the sky of Muju… A feast of fireworks scattered like flowers under the black sky.

Let’s go to an ecstatic place with a travel writer who has lived in Muju for 18 years!
