On Thursday, July 18, 2024, the third edition of the PME-CI and Diaspora Gala was held at the prestigious function room of the Sofitel Ivoire in Abidjan, in an elegant and subdued atmosphere.
Taking part were business and umbrella organization leaders, partners and representatives of the supervisory ministry, diplomatic missions, local authorities and key players in the business world, symbolizing the growing support given to SMEs for their crucial role in the local economy.
This year, some twenty SME leaders and personalities were recognized. Among these emblematic figures working tirelessly for the cause of SMEs is Mr. Youรฉpรฉnรฉ Hermann NAGALO, Permanent Secretary of the UEMOA Banking and SME Fair. Represented on this occasion by Mrs. Shakira AGBOOLA, he was awarded the “SME Ambassador Award” for his unifying actions and his pan-African vision for the revitalization of SMEs and the development of South-South cooperation between SMEs and their umbrella organizations.
An Inspiring Ambassador: Mr. Youรฉpรฉnรฉ Hermann NAGALO, a visionary entrepreneur whose commitment to SMEs has been unanimously recognized, is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of BURKINA PME-PMI, Honorary Chairman of several African SME networks and Permanent Secretary of the UEMOA Banking and SME Show.
In her speech, Ms. Shakira AGBOOLA reiterated her congratulations and encouragement to Ms. Kouyatรฉ, General Commissioner of the Gala, as well as to her entire team. She stressed the importance of this initiative which highlights the contribution of SMEs to the development of the local economy. โMs. Kouyatรฉ leaves an indelible mark on the development of Ivorian SMEs and beyond, because SMEs are the drivers of innovation and job creation. She embodies the spirit of entrepreneurship and demonstrates that we can all contribute to a better future for our communities by supporting our SMEs,โ she said. She took the opportunity to call for massive participation of Ivorian SMEs in the 10th edition of the UEMOA Banking and SME Show, which will be held in Bissau from November 6 to 10, 2024 under the theme: SDGs and Structural Transformation of African Economies: Role and Impact of UEMOA SMEs.
