The National Tax Service announced on the 26th that it will conduct a search for income tax refunds for 1.35 million personal service income earners. Personal service income earners include delivery riders, academy instructors, designated drivers, personal caregivers, and bathhouse managers, and the expected refunds amount to 179.2 billion won.

Personal service income earners can apply for and receive a refund for five years (2019-2023) at once without paying any fees by using the service provided by the National Tax Service.

The National Tax Service will send mobile refund notices (via KakaoTalk or Naver) for two days until the 27th to taxpayers whose income falls below a certain amount and includes only personal service income.

The target is a business operator whose income in the previous year was less than 24 million won (36 million won in the previous year in 2023) and whose income in the current year is less than 75 million won.

If you click the ‘Go to Mobile Report’ button on the mobile refund guide, you can view the income amount and expected refund amount for the past 5 years.

The National Tax Service provides a ‘fill-all service’, so you can complete the report by entering your account number, etc. on the refund inquiry screen and clicking the ‘bulk report’ button to submit the report.

Refunds are only paid to taxpayers who have completed their refund report. If you report by the end of August, the refund will be paid before Chuseok. If you report after September, the refund will be paid by the end of the month following the report. For example, if you report in September, the refund will be paid by October 31.

A National Tax Service official said, “In addition to helping taxpayers find their refunds, we will strive to provide a more convenient refund service without the fees that taxpayers pay when using private companies when filing their comprehensive income tax returns.”
