“The accident started when the Hiace was driving from Semarang towards Bawen,” stated a spokesperson for the Semarang Police Traffic Unit. “Upon reaching the location,it is suspected that the driver lacked concentration and impacted the truck traveling ahead.”

They include: Ignasius Suharno (45),Antonius Yuwono Trisunu (42),Brigita Putri Milo Deru (36),Silvia Dita (46),Sundari (56),and Imanuel Kotan (35). All injured passengers are residents of the North Jakarta area.

The drivers have been identified as Totot Andriyanto (56), the driver of the Hiace, from Batam, and Andi slamet Suwandi (55), the driver of the crane truck, from Central Lampung.

Following the accident, a senior official urged drivers, notably those undertaking long journeys, to prioritize their well-being. “We strongly advise drivers to maintain their physical condition and take regular breaks at designated rest areas,” the official stated. “Do not push yourselves when feeling fatigued.”
