Kochi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded Narayan, a 30-year-old man who distributed pottery to provide water to birds and animals. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Narayanan’s services on the weekly radio show Mann Ki Baat. Thirty-one Narayanan has started a project called A Pot for Living Water. The task is to distribute pottery to provide drinking water to the birds during the summer. The Prime Minister said that the efforts of Narayanan, a 30-year-old from Kerala, in caring for birds will inspire the country.
He was upset to see the birds and animals in need in the heat. He wondered why he could not be supplied with earthenware, and that it would be sufficient for others to fill the vessels with water. You will be amazed that the number of pottery distributed by Narayanan so far is going to cross one lakh. He will donate the one lakh vessel of his mission to the Sabarmati Ashram established by Gandhiji. Narayanan’s work will surely inspire us during this time of intense summer. “We too must work to make water available to the birds and animals in this heat,” Prime Minister Modi called.
Narayanan donated 2,000 pots to the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, founded by Gandhiji, as part of a drive to increase the number of pottery pots to one lakh. Last year, 3,000 pots were donated to the Wardha Sevagram Ashram in Maharashtra, the Father’s First Residence. Narayanan gives pots to those who visit the ashram from different parts of the world to keep in mind for the visit.
Nine years ago, Gandhian and environmental activist Mr. Narayanan came up with the idea of a pottery for living water to provide fresh water for the birds that roam in search of drinking water in the summer. In 2019, Scouts and Guides brought clay pots all over Kerala through students. It is now being offered to alternative locations as well. Three years ago, Narayanan received the World Competition Award worth Rs 7.5 lakh from The Supreme Master Chinghai International Association in Taiwan.
