An impersonator – Georgi Yordanov, signed the contract for the loan from BBR on behalf of the company “Rodway Construction”, for which Rumen Gaitanski-Valka was accused as an instigator of embezzlement of BGN 148.5 million.
This became clear on Monday, when the Sofia City Court left the businessman permanently in custody. After Yordanov, the manager and owner of the company became Ivan Georgiev, who was accused of being an accomplice and is free on BGN 50,000 bail. The former BBR director Stoyan Mavrodiev is still being sought.
The scheme of the loan is as follows – the money was granted to “Roadway Construction” to buy “Road Construction Engineering” with owner Rumen Gaitanski from “Bio Mining”, which is also owned by the accused businessman. The company “Rodway Construction”, with which the loan was used, was registered in 2018, shortly before submitting a request for a loan from the state bank. Then the owner and manager was Georgi Yordanov. After the money was absorbed, he was replaced by Ivan Georgiev. Yordanov was also the manager of “Road Construction Engineering”, whose contract with a large construction company for the supply of aggregates was used to secure the loan.

Other witnesses are Iva Todorova and Nikolina Tujachka from the company that assessed the collateral for the loan. They said that Ivan Georgiev and Rumen Gaitanski have a close relationship. In addition, it is clear that the contract of “Road Engineering”, which served as collateral, was signed in 2018 and was terminated on the same day, i.e. is fictitious. In addition to Roadway Construction, BBR granted a loan of BGN 1.5 million to Road Construction Engineering, registered in a village near Momchilgrad, it became clear in the courtroom. Thus, the money is rounded up to BGN 150 million. This happens only a month after the first contract with Roadway Construction. It was signed again by Georgi Yordanov, who himself admits that he is an impersonator. The money has not been returned.
