The power cut time implemented in Colombo-Sri Lanka has been increased to 10 hours.
In our neighboring country Sri Lanka, a sharp economic crisis has occurred due to the fall in foreign exchange reserves. As a result, the prices of fuels including petrol, diesel and cooking gas have gone up, leaving people in great distress.
As a result, the power supply was cut off and the power cut was in effect for seven hours daily. Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan government yesterday extended the power cut to 10 hours.
In this regard, the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of the Government of Sri Lanka Janaka Ratnayake said yesterday: Due to fuel shortages, hydropower plants are inoperable. As a result, there is a shortage of 750 MW of electricity. Subsequently, the power cut time has been raised to 10 hours, he said.
