The State Examination Center (SEC) has published its statistical analysis of the entrance exam until last year. It has become clear that the majority of secondary school graduates in Azerbaijan still cannot achieve the minimum level required for university admission. Last year, 16 percent of applicants who participated in the entrance exam in the first-fourth groups scored below 100 points. 43 percent of all applicants scored less than 200 points in the 700-point system. In other words, almost one out of every two applicants scored less than 200 points. Another 22 percent of those who participated in the exam scored between 200-300. 25.6 percent of applicants scored 300-500 points, and about 10 percent scored more than 500 points.

DIM has created an analogy of the points collected by the applicants with the traditional “2”, “3”, “4”, “5” grades. According to that calculation, 42.8 percent of those who took the entrance exam in 2022 got “2” in the exam. Some regions fare worse than others. More than 20 percent of applicants representing graduates of Siyazan, Shabran, Agsu, Khojaly, Beylagan, Lankaran, Khachmaz, Sabirabad, Dashkasan regions and Ganja city scored less than 100 in the entrance exams. The ratio of those who scored below 100 points to the total number of applicants has also increased compared to the previous two years.
