SATHOO: Police have seized 10.5 tonnes of ration rice smuggled in a lorry near Vembakkottai and arrested three persons.

Following a tip-off received by the Civil Supplies Department that ration rice was being smuggled in the Vembakkottai area of ​​Virudhunaga district, the Civil Supplies Officer was engaged in a vehicle check on the Seven Thousand Farm-Thiruvenkadam road. He then stopped and checked the lorry which was passing by in a suspicious manner.

Then it was revealed that ration rice was smuggled in the lorry. Following this, the lorry was taken into custody and handed over to the Vembakkottai Police by the Civil Supplies Officer. Following the complaint lodged by the Civil Supplies Department, the lorry driver, Anthony David, son of Mariyadas, a native of Kalkulam taluka, Kalkulam taluka, Kanyakumari district, and the owner of the lorry, Ramesh, who owned the ebony area, and the son of Thiruvenkadam Aladipatti, who had given ration rice to Evas, were arrested. They have been arrested and are being investigated.

The lorry used to smuggle the ration rice and 10.5 tonnes of ration rice in it were confiscated by the Civil Supplies Office.
