In a recent poll of over 500 filmmakers, actors, and influential film fans, the best movies released since Jan. 1,2000,were selected,revealing a diverse range of cinematic achievements.

A quarter-century of change on screen
Over the past 25 years, the film industry has undergone a dramatic conversion, thanks to streaming services and superhero blockbusters. But which films have truly endured? To answer this,a survey was conducted,polling more than 500 filmmakers,stars,and influential film fans. The voters included Oscar-winning directors like Pedro Almodóvar, Sofia Coppola, Barry Jenkins, and Guillermo del Toro, alongside actors like Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mikey Madison, John Turturro, and Julianne Moore.

‘Superbad’ (2007)

Every generation needs its defining teen comedy, and for the 21st century, many would argue that’s “Superbad.”

The script, penned by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, follows pals named Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera) as they hilariously and sweetly navigate their attempts to get lucky before high school graduation. Director Greg Mottola elevated the antics with retro opening titles and a memorable sequence involving phallic cartoons. “Superbad” also introduced audiences to the talents of Hill, Cera, and Emma Stone.
