Sri Lanka’s anti-ruling movement reached its 100th day on Sunday. Even after the country’s incumbent president was forced out of office, the country’s economic crisis continues. In this situation, the people in the protest field are expecting that the next leader who will come to power should lead the country in the right way.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa left his mansion last weekend just before protesters occupied it. He resigned from the presidency last Thursday.
His mismanagement was blamed for Sri Lanka’s economic crisis.
Sri Lanka has been forced to face food, fuel and medicine shortages since late last year.
In this situation, the people celebrated the 100th day of protest as Gotabaya left the country as a result of their struggle.
Footage of the situation on the ground was recorded by Manikandan, a BBC Tamil correspondent based in Colombo, and Ranjan Arun Prasad, who reports for BBC Tamil from Sri Lanka. We have compiled them here.
