The Bank of Israel is upgrading technologically: from a small system that served a small number of employees for remote access, the bank has upgraded to a Notix Hyperlink (HCI) system, which includes a free virtualization solution and file services. The infrastructure allows more than 1,000 employees to remotely connect simultaneously.

The Bank of Israel has carried out a project to establish an IT infrastructure using the NetNix HCI (Hyper-Unified Infrastructure) platform, which is used to remotely access about 1,000 users to the organization through Citrix’s VDI solution. Notnix’s HCI platform includes virtualization technology without additional cost / licensing as well as a built-in file services solution, which provides a solution to the various profiles of users.

The background to the project was the massive transition to remote work since the outbreak of the Corona crisis and the bank’s need to allow its employees to work from home, while providing the resources needed to connect many users remotely simultaneously with high performance, stability and information security. Prior to the establishment of Notnix’s infrastructure, the bank had a limited system that served a few dozen individual employees for remote work and today, as mentioned, is prepared to provide access to more than 1,000 employees simultaneously.

Notnix’s HCI platform operates in the bank’s main data center and on the DR site in the Active-Active model, so that if there is a failure in one site, the other site continues to provide a complete solution to all activities in order to achieve maximum survivability and information security. Notnix’s solution is tailored to allow in the future to advance to a software-based data center with the same infrastructure. The platform operates in an environment of 8 clusters, which were established due to information security needs. As part of the project, part of the hardware system was also replaced by the servers of HP, a business partner of Notnix.

The project was carried out by the IT team of the Bank of Israel with guidance, implementation and training carried out by Notnix and Durcom, as well as SmartX, which carried out the Citrix part of the project.

According to Lilach Shimoni, Enterprise Client Manager, Notnix Israel: “We see the Bank of Israel as a real partner in implementing our solutions. The solution provides the bank with easy and intuitive use, easy growth and expansion capabilities, durability, stability and high-level information security – a critical feature for such an organization. The experienced Nutniks engineers accompanied the project throughout, adapting the solution to changes following the Corona, assisting in examining customer applications, including detailed design of the solution for the entire user population. “As is the case today. Our solution is fast, reliable and stable and thus, users enjoy better performance and stability over time.”
