FUEL ASSISTANCE. At the beginning of 2023, the government’s new fuel aid, in the amount of 100 euros, will replace the fuel discount of 10 euro cents per liter which ends on December 31, 2022. Who is affected?

[Mis à jour le 26 décembre 2022 à 13h01] The discount at the pump of 10 euro cents per liter of fuel ends on December 31, 2022, but inflation continues to weaken the purchasing power of the French. The government therefore intends to pursue its policy of supporting the most modest with a new fuel aidthe amount of 100 euroswho will be distributed at the beginning of 2023. Unlike the rebate at the pump, which concerned the entire population, this assistance will be more targeted. It will indeed be distributed to 50% of the poorest householdsis around 10 million peoplewho need their vehicle to get to their place of work.

To hope to benefit from this new government assistance, your reference tax income per unit for the year 2021 must be less than or equal to 14,700 euros. Please note: you will have to make a request to receive this help. The procedure for receiving this aid will be quite simple. One form to fill out will be available on the tax website. You will need to indicate your tax number, your license plate and your gray card number, and complete a sworn statement indicating that you use your vehicle to go to work. This aid of 100 euros will then be paid directly into your bank account. Other information to note: this indemnity will be paid per person and not per household. Thus, a modest couple whose two members both use their vehicle to go to work will receive 200 euros in fuel aid.

The fuel aid will concern 50% of the poorest French households, who need their vehicle to go to work. This represents about 10 million people. The owners of two wheels will also be able to benefit from it, in the same way as the self-employed and civil servants. Electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids will also be part of the scheme.

This compensation will be paid per person and not per household. Each member of a modest couple who uses their vehicle to go to their place of work will receive aid of 100 euros. A couple will therefore be able to benefit from 200 euros of fuel aid in 2023. To find out if you are eligible, here are the income limits put in place by the government to determine the beneficiaries of this exceptional aid:

  • < 1 314 euros nets/mois pour une personne seule
  • < 3 285 euros nets/mois pour un couple avec un enfant
  • < 3 285 euros nets/mois pour une personne seule avec deux enfants
  • < 3 941 euros nets/mois pour un couple avec deux enfants
  • < 5 255 euros nets/mois pour un couple avec trois enfants

To benefit from this new fuel aid, it will be necessary to complete a form on the website impots.gouv.fr with:

  • Your tax number
  • Your license plate number and registration number
  • A sworn statement that you use your vehicle to go to work

The aid will then be paid directly, all at once, into your bank account, without any additional steps.

The fuel allowance will be an amount of 100 euros for the year 2023. It may amount to 200 euros for a working couple whose two members use their vehicle to go to their place of work. This represents a gain of 10 euro cents per liter of fuel, on average, for someone who travels 12,000 kilometers per year, which is the average French person.

As planned by the government, the fuel discount of 30 euro cents per liter has been reduced to 10 euro cents from November 16 to December 31, 2022. The discount offered by Totalit went from 20 centimes to 10 euro cents, on the same schedule. These two aids will end as of January 1, 2023. The government rebate concerns fishing diesel, non-road diesel (GNR), gasoline (SP95, SP98-E5, SP-95-E10), liquefied petroleum gas fuel (LPG-c), vehicle natural gas (CNG ) in compressed (CNG) or liquefied (LNG) form, superethanol (E85) and diesel ethanol (ED95). Here are the dates to remember:

  • Fitness 10 euro cents from November 16 to December 31, 2022
  • Deleted from December 31, 2023
