The circle is complete. The electoral roll provisionally contains 10,358,575 voters, reveals the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), which has just closed registration on the electoral roll on 31 May.
On April 10, the CENI had counted 9,623,662 voters in the electoral list after cleanings, removal and retrenchment due to repetitions of identities or even identical national card numbers. More than 66,300 names had to be deleted and nearly 379,161 names verified.
The CENI will have until June 10 to proclaim the final and official decision of the electoral list. This new electoral list will be used for the next presidential election scheduled for next November. The CENI had the ambition to register 13.5 million voters but this objective was ultimately not achieved.
