A government with a second term cannot pass without support from GERB, DPS or “Vazrazhdane”
How many votes of support can PP-DB count on if they propose a government with the second mandate? Such accounts are already being worked out on the sidelines of the parliament even before the group of Academician Nikolay Denkov came out with a unified opinion on what to do with the mandate.
PP-DB will receive the folder for forming a government from the president next week. I respect parliamentary dynamics and the need for time and dialogue. I expect the PP-DB parliamentary group to clearly state whether it will stand by its declarations that it will be the opposition or seek support to form a government. I’m in no rush and I’ll hand in the mandate next week, announced Rumen Radev on Friday from Burgas.
It is expected that during the weekends “We continue the change”, DSB and “Yes, Bulgaria” will hold their meetings and finally decide what to do with the mandate. There was division in the coalition even when discussing what to do with the third mandate, before it became clear that the second one was coming to them, after the DPS split and became the fourth force in this parliament.
DSB proposed to have a technical government, but “Promyanata” continued to insist on remaining opposition in the 50th National Assembly. It is not clear whether they will change their position under the new situation. An attempt to debate the topic was made on Thursday, but it remained without a final result and consensus – whether to return the mandate or try a program cabinet. During the weekend, each of the three parties will try to convince their own for a unified position, and unofficially the formations have agreed to remain silent about their decision until the invitation from President Rumen Radev comes.
Even if it takes the folder with the mandate, the PP-DB will still not gather the necessary number of deputies for a majority, it is clear from the statements of the other parliamentary forces, at least at this stage.
PP-DB has 39 deputies. They certainly currently have the declared support of the already 24 independents around Ahmed Dogan. Yes. We would show reason for dialogue with PP-DB. Let’s see what program they would present and what goals, explained Jevdet Chakarov.
From the remaining independents, support can be expected from the group from Velichie around Nikolay Markov and Viktoria Vasileva, who are seven people.
The other six MPs, who are part of the group of Velichie’s ideologue Ivelin Mihailov, have already declared that they will not help to implement either the second or the third mandate.
The BSP with its 18 deputies is also expected to give support, but after a new decision by its National Council, which has already voted that it will not support the mandates of GERB and DPS. We will participate in all attempts to form a government. I encourage the desire to seek dialogue and seek solutions that are in the context of the formula that we proposed – a supra-party, expert, pro-Bulgarian, nationally responsible government, interim chairman Atanas Zafirov said on Friday.
ITN, which has 16 MPs, will also talk to the PP-DB, but only with a clearly written program, terms and steps to be taken, and then to look for people for their implementation. If agreement is reached on an expert cabinet with a second or third term, all policies will be fixed with a deadline for implementation, said Stanislav Balabanov.
Thus, the PP-DB can possibly count on 104 votes so far.
To make a majority of 121, they will need support from GERB, Vazrazhdane or DPS of Delyan Peevski.
The deputy head of the GERB group Denitsa Sacheva has already announced that their position of not supporting the second and third terms remains unchanged. However, she left a loophole for various hypotheses, because “there is still no definite position from the PP-DB”. You know that they have a wide range of leaders, they have many collective bodies both of the PP and of “Yes, Bulgaria”, of the DSB, said Sacheva.
However, “Vazrazhdane” has been talking about an anti-GERB government for some time.
