Xiaomi announced the Redmi K50 Ultra, a high-performance model equivalent to the Xiaomi 12, which will also be offered in a limited edition bearing the logo of the Mercedes Formula 1 racing team.

Compared to the Redmi K50 and K50 Pro based on MediaTek’s chipset, the K50 Ultra relies on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and the first of the Redmi series. It is combined with 8 or 12 gigabytes of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512 gigabytes of UFS 3.1 storage. No less than 12 different cooling layers should maintain optimal performance even after prolonged use.

The AMOLED screen comes in 6.67 inches with a 12-bit panel capable of displaying 68.7 million colors and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10. The resolution is 2712×1220 pixels, which is something between FHD+ and QHD+, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 480 Hz.

The photo array includes a 108-megapixel ISOCELL HM6 sensor made by Samsung (Samsung) with 9-in-1 pixel unification technology. The rest of the cameras are 8 megapixels with a wide lens and a 2 megapixel sensor with a macro lens.

The battery comes with an impressive capacity of 5,000 mAh, with support for wired charging at a power of up to 120 watts but without support for wireless charging. The operating system is Android 12, on which the MIUI 13 interface is installed. More in the specifications: support for a pair of physical SIM cards, a fingerprint scanner embedded in the display, and also an infrared transmitter.

Prices in China start at $445 for a model with 8 GB of working memory, and reach $593 for a model with 12 GB of memory and 512 GB of file storage. The special edition with Formula Racing branding will cost $623. In the meantime, Redmi has no plans for an official global marketing of the device.
