At least 11 people, including the wife of Indian Army Chief of Staff Bipin Rawat, have been reported dead. Not confirmed though
An Army helicopter crashed while taking off from the Sulur Air Force Base in Coimbatore district this afternoon for the Wellington Center in the Nilgiris district.
The helicopter was flying over a vampire hill near Coonoor when it suddenly lost control and crashed into a hill.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that the helicopter was carrying 14 people, including senior Army officers and soldiers, and that the bodies of 11 people had been recovered so far.

The bodies of the army officers who were rescued at the scene of the accident are said to be unidentifiable.
Medical Secretary Radhakrishnan said that a special treatment team has been sent to the Nilgiris for the injured in the helicopter crash.
