The issue of sexual assaults at the former artist agency Johnny’s (Smile-Up) is possibly one of the most talked about news of 2023.

In a survey of 6,000 people aged 10 to 49 across Japan by Otalab, a website run by digital marketing company UpDate (based in the Chūō district of Tokyo), 92% said they were aware of Johnny’s sexual abuse. Additionally, 45% said their image of the former Johnny’s had changed.

When 826 respondents who had been fans of the former Johnny’s were asked if their feelings of support for the agency had changed, a large proportion (46.1%) said there had been no change, followed by 21.8%. , who said his feelings of support had increased. On the other hand, 11.1% declared that they had stopped being followers of the agency.

Regarding the future of the former Johnny’s, 33% of respondents were “expectative,” and 40% were “uneasy.”
