After a five-day journey from the Turkish town of Doğubayazıt, Youssef Tazi reached the summit of Mount “Ararat”, located on the border between Turkey and Armenia, becoming the first Moroccan child to climb a mountain that exceeds the 5,000 meters.

“I am honored by the exceptional feat of my 12-year-old son, armed with his passion, courage and strong determination to raise the national flag on the highest mountain peak in Turkey, at 5,165 meters above sea level, after a long mountain journey that lasted five days, full of lessons and challenges,” the child’s father and companion, Omar Tazi, told MAP.

“Thus, Youssef becomes the youngest Moroccan climber who defies fear, faces the cold and the lack of oxygen, and exceeds the barrier of 5,000 meters,” he added.

It should be noted that Youssef and Omar Tazi chose to embark on this adventure after more than a year of physical, psychological and medical preparation, and after having climbed several mountain peaks in Morocco, some of which exceed 4,000 meters in altitude. .

On the eve of the climb, Omar Tazi told MAP that “embarking on this adventure came after a long reflection and consultation with professional climbers, which required us to be very meticulous in all our steps. and intensive preparations for 14 months”.

And to specify that the preparations for the ascent of the “Ararat” summit included “regular medical monitoring, a special diet, mental preparation, continuous adaptation to heights and regular courses to strengthen physical fitness and ensure the safety of Youssef”.
