Human Resources Minister Tan Chee Leng said in Parliament on Monday that technology companies in Singapore have reported that 1,270 Singaporeans have been laid off between July and November this year.
This is almost five times more than the 260 Singaporeans who were laid off earlier this year.
Dr Tan shared these details while responding to questions from nine members of Parliament on the number of layoffs in the technology sector and the support being provided to them.
In Singapore, tech companies such as Meta and Kotoo have been downsizing in succession.
