Inspecting a locomotive: In my family, literally everyone is involved with the railroad. My wife works at the station, my son is the station master, my daughter-in-law is also a railroad worker, my daughter also works at the station, my son-in-law is a locomotive driver, my brothers are almost all railroad workers, drivers and their wives are the same.

TALGAT ABENOV, Deputy Head of the Karaganda Locomotive Depot:

– I remember my grandmother, my father’s mother, said that even in those difficult years during the Great Patriotic War they survived thanks to the railway; it was the railway that fed them and raised them.

These are my father’s medals. Labor medals. Of course, I am most proud of my father.

According to his stories, my father, literally at the age of 16, came to the Agadyr locomotive depot, started working as a mechanic, then as a diesel locomotive driver, and retrained as an electric locomotive driver.

We grew up in the village of Agadyr, literally next to the railway. We woke up to the hum of the locomotive and fell asleep to the clatter of the wheels. I was very little then. That’s when I set myself the goal of becoming a machinist.

My mother also worked on the railroad all her life; she worked as a signalman at the Agadyr station.

MADI ABENOV, son of TALGAT ABENOV, head of the Nura station:

– For me, the railroad is probably, first and foremost, a family tradition. I came to the family road, following in the footsteps of my grandfather, father, and brothers. I didn’t even consider other professions; I can’t say that this is a money-making job.

TALGAT ABENOV, Deputy Head of the Karaganda Locomotive Depot:

– The railway is an iron discipline. These are not just words. That’s how it is. On the railway, first of all, we have discipline. If there were no discipline, imagine yourself, the driver is driving a train, behind him are millions of cargo, thousands of passengers. What would happen to them if there were no iron discipline?

I dream of working until retirement and raising my grandchildren. I believe that any work is rewarding. If you work with desire and love.
