14% of Russian companies called 2021 the worst year in the entire history of work

The current year has become the worst in the history of work for 14% of Russian employers, writes RBC with reference to the results of a survey by the Rabota.ru service, in which more than a thousand representatives of companies from all regions of the country took part.

Only 2% of respondents called this year the best in their history, 11% did not notice the difference between this year and the previous ones. For almost half of employers (45%), the year was difficult, but they were able to cope with new challenges. Another 28% of respondents believe that the year was satisfactory.

Remote work was cited as a good side of this year by 16% of respondents, while 10% rated it as difficult.

The relative majority of companies (39%) among the pluses of the year noted that they managed to avoid layoffs. 35% of employers were able to raise salaries for their employees, and 26% were able to keep bonuses. About a quarter (23%) reported opening new lines of business, 22% said they were able to optimize costs.

The majority of employers (43%) singled out diseases of employees and managers among the difficulties this year. 28% of respondents noted an increase in costs, and 20% – the loss of some customers and clients. For 11% of company representatives, the negative result of the year was a reduction in the number of employees, and for 9%, a reduction in staff salaries. Another 10% of companies were dissatisfied with the rejection of social projects. Refusal from the previous office and reduction of directions of the business company among the difficulties of the outgoing year were indicated by 8% of employers.

10% of employers are going to transfer employees to a hybrid work format. Employees of 6% of the surveyed companies will return to the office, and 3% of companies will completely switch to a remote format. Plans to open new business areas were reported by 33% of survey participants, 32% intend to expand the geography of their business. 16% of respondents said they plan to focus on one line of business.
