Between May 2 and June 26, 2023, the Zonal Coordination 2 of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) has vaccinated 145,538 children between 1 and 12 years of age in the provinces of Napo, Orellana and rural Pichincha in compliance with the National Vaccination Campaign against poliomyelitis, measles and rubella.

Currently in Ecuador, the second stage of the campaign is being developed, which consists of door-to-door visits by vaccination brigades in homes and in places of mass concentration such as free fairs, churches, parks, bus terminals, and shopping centers in each territory.

“We have reached coverage of 88.96% of the total population of children who must receive an additional dose against these diseases in the three provinces of Zone 2 of Ecuador, said Francisco Contreras, Zonal Health 2 coordinator. In addition, he congratulated the health teams for their commitment and thanked the support of public institutions, private companies, Decentralized Autonomous Governments, the Armed Forces and the National Police.

The 125 first-level health establishments in Napo, Orellana and rural Pichincha have enough vaccines so that parents who have not yet immunized their children under 12 years of age can take them.

Vaccines are safe and free.
