Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that 147 people have been officially killed in the conflict-violence in the quota reform movement.

He said this to reporters in his office at the Secretariat on Sunday (July 28).

The Home Minister said that the victims include police, Awami League leaders and workers, students and people from various professions. Further inquiries are underway to ascertain the death toll. The process of determining how many women, how many men or people of any profession are going on.

Asaduzzaman Khan said in response to the question of when the five coordination of anti-discrimination student movement will be released to them, see, they themselves were saying that they are at risk. One of them was telling the father that I hid the special needs. They themselves were saying that they were in danger. That’s why we brought them for safety. They were being asked, which political party or who instigated you, later the movement turned violent, we are asking them. They are also giving answers to these.

The minister said, we have not arrested them yet. They are in our custody. We are thinking soon, calculating whether we can release them if their risk is free. If the police think they are safe, they will be released. We did not arrest them.
