“Different dolls”. They are the ones that portray the great writers and poets of all time. There are fifteen of them and they are handmade by Rossana Gay. I’m Alda Merini, Emily Dickinson, Virginia Woolf, Charlotte Bronte, Elsa Morante, Saffo, Flannery O’Connor, Fabrizia Ramondino Anna Maria Ortese, Christine de Pizan, Simone Weil, Lucia Berlin, just to name a few. The 15 dolls, pieces made by hand by the Milanese actress Rossana Gay, who has been living in the municipality of San Casciano for several years, are handcrafted discoveries and symbols of hope. “The desire to create objects that could make my love for literature and writing visible, tangible – explains the author – was an ideal friend and ally in the difficult period of the lockdown, when the world of theater had to stop, like the rest of the world. rest”. “My key to coping with the physical and psychological state of confinement – he continues – that the epidemiological emergency has imposed and has persisted, albeit in alternating phases, for two years has been a new form of artistic expression that has allowed me to create small artifacts, inspired by the great icons of the pen, poetesses, writers, journalists, philosophers that I love to read and bring to the stage “.

The Municipality has decided to enhance the works of art of Rossana Gay and her talent that emerged in a time of pandemic by hosting two days of exhibitions, theatrical events, installations and reflections on the female dimension in March. The initiative “Different dolls, writers over time,” a project by Rossana Gay, will be held in the spaces of the San Casciano stage next Saturday and Sunday. The event scheduled for Saturday 12 March and Sunday 13 March.
