15 MSP establishments received supplies for Comprehensive and Friendly Care for Adolescents – Ministry of Public Health

The Ministry of Public Health (MSP), through the ELLA project: “Empowerment, Local Leadership and Accountability for adolescents and young women, migrants and refugees, and the host community” received a donation of equipment, medical supplies and technological equipment to strengthen Comprehensive and Friendly Care Services for Adolescents.

Plan International Ecuador and the Embassy of Canada delivered the donation, which will be distributed in 15 health establishments in Quito, Loja and Manta. This initiative benefits 367,133 adolescents in the country.

120 health professionals, including zonal and district health promotion managers from Zonal Coordinations 4, 7 and 9, were trained in technical and conceptual knowledge and skills in handling methodological tools for work.

The donation includes screens, stretchers, portable diagnostic equipment, scales, stadiometers, computers, desks, chairs, televisions, tents, printers, toolboxes, among others. The total amount is USD 181,983.09.

Sandra Guzmán, Senior International Development Officer at the Canadian Embassy in Ecuador, explained that the objective is to promote equality among young women. “It is impressive to see the advances in the issue of adolescent empowerment. International cooperation congratulates the efforts made by the Government to prioritize, promote and strengthen actions in favor of this group within the framework of their rights, including sexual rights, reproductive rights and their integral development”.
