150 actions to make the chemical industry greener

The European Commission has published this Friday the support plan for the ecological and digital transition for the chemical industry with more than 150 actions to applyas a roadmap for investments in safe and sustainable products, and which has been developed together with key industry representatives, Member States, NGOs and other stakeholders.

The actions outlined, which must be applied throughout the ecosystemaim to promote collaboration in innovation, the collection of information to support the diversification of raw materials and improve the clean energy supply thanks to electrification, the production of hydrogen or the reuse of waste.

The Commission will present the roadmap at the High-Level Chemical Industry Roundtable on 1 February, after which stakeholders will work together to jointly implement the agreed measures, further assess investment needs and present their transition commitments.

Brussels proposed developing transition pathways in different ecosystems in the Industrial Strategy Update May 2021, as part of efforts to accelerate the green and digital transformation of European industry.

To date, the Community Executive has developed, together with the interested parties, transition itineraries in the tourism ecosystemslas energy-intensive industries and the social economy and proximity.
