Erode: Three people, including a mother, have been arrested for selling the eggs of a 16-year-old girl. The mother, her second husband and Malathi, 36, who acted as intermediaries, were arrested. The girl had complained to the police that she had sold eggs 8 times in 4 years. It has been reported that such large groups are operating in the district.
Police said the drugs were being sold at private hospitals in Erode, Salem, Perunthura and Hosur for infertility treatment. It is said that an egg can fetch up to Rs 20,000. Of this, Rs 5,000 should be given to those who act as intermediaries. Two years ago, a gang selling newborn babies was arrested in Erode and Salem districts. The girl’s age was recorded and a fake Aadhaar card was issued.
