On Thursday, a student was stabbed at Jessheim High School. The incident reportedly occurred inside the school, according to operations manager Gisle Lindheim Sveen to VG.
The injured boy is 16 years old, and the extent of his injuries is described as serious.
– He is at the hospital receiving treatment, says prosecutor Pia Elsebeth Skjørshammer Klafstad to VG.
The 17-year-old, a classmate, is being investigated for attempted murder and was interviewed Thursday evening. Defense attorney Runa Elin Kosberg says her client was questioned Thursday night.
– He admits to being involved in an incident but denies any criminal guilt.
Kosberg informs Romerikes Blad (RB) that the suspect is cooperating with the police and has provided the requested information.
Prosecutor Pia Elsebeth Skjørshammer Klafstad tells RB that they are working to identify any witnesses to the event.
– It is too early in the investigation to say whether there were actually witnesses to the event. We are looking for witnesses and we want video and pictures if anyone has them, she says to the newspaper.
A continuous assessment is being made about whether he will be presented for pre-trial detention on Friday, the police state.
– It is too early to say anything about the background of the incident or any possible motive at this time, says Klafstad.
– We have several hypotheses, but I cannot comment on that for the sake of the investigation.

She states that it is also too early to say anything about the relationship beyond being students at the same school.
– We are investigating the case broadly.
The victim is not considered to have life-threatening injuries, the police report. The individual is said to have suffered injuries from two stab wounds – one in the neck area and one in the arm.
A small knife was reportedly used. It has not been found, the police state.
– Based on the victim’s statement, it seems unprovoked, but this is early in the investigation. It is clear that this is a nasty and serious incident, said operations manager Sveen earlier on Thursday.
The police patrol arrived quickly at the scene and gained control of another student who was identified as the perpetrator.
The principal of Jessheim High School, Christian Andresen, stated around 11:20 that the students were still sitting in their classrooms.
– The school day is over, and they will be allowed to go home shortly.
The municipality’s psychosocial crisis team will be present for students at the school on Friday.
There will also be a debriefing for the school staff later on Thursday.
– It is terrible when something like this happens. This is really not what characterizes Jessheim High School, says the principal.
