As per the decision of the Advisory Council of the Interim Government, Gana Bhavan will be converted into ‘July Uprising Memorial Museum’ at the earliest. The overall picture of last 16 years of disappearances, murders and torture will be presented there.
On Saturday (September 7) during the visit to Ganobhaban, the advisor of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology said. Nahid Islam told reporters this information. Industrial Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan and Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan were present at this time.
The information advisor said, we got a new Bangladesh on August 5 in exchange for a lot of blood. The existing ruins of Ganabhaban will be converted into a museum, which will be open to the public, to preserve the people’s victory.
He said, what happened to the fascist, dictator and murderous statesman, this building is being turned into a museum to keep a sign of him on the face of the earth. And considering the fact that the people are the real owners of the state power, the government has decided to turn the Ganabhavan into a memorial museum of the July People’s Uprising. For this purpose a committee has been instructed and this work will be completed as soon as possible. It has been directed to seek the advice of experts in the country as well as abroad, who have experience in building commemorative museums of the uprising.
Tyath Advisor said that the museum will have a comprehensive presentation of the last 16 years of disappearances, extrajudicial killings, 36 days of mass uprising, list of martyrs, memories. There will also be some digital presentations.
At that time, Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said that Ganobhaban will be converted into a museum to preserve the memories of July 2024 uprising and the atrocities, disappearances and murders of the previous fascist government on the people. It will be opened to the public at a later date. A committee will be constituted with architects and museum experts.
