At the beginning of this meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita, handed over the presidency of the current session to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, the Kingdom of Morocco having chaired the past session.

The meeting of Arab foreign ministers will discuss a number of political, economic, social, legal, financial and administrative issues, including joint Arab action, as well as the report of the Secretary General of the Arab League for the period between the 160th and 161st sessions, and the regular Arab Summit scheduled for next May in Bahrain.

The discussions will also focus on the Arab-Israeli conflict and developments in the Palestinian issue, in addition to the implementation of the Arab peace initiative and water security in the Arab world.

Shortly before this meeting, the Arab Ministerial Commission on Somalia discussed ways to support this country in the face of aggression targeting its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Similarly, the Arab Ministerial Commission on Turkish interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries also met.
