Trucks with humanitarian aid wait to enter the Gaza Strip

A second convoy with 17 humanitarian aid trucks is authorized to enter the Gaza Strip this Sunday (22), according to Reuters. Yesterday (21), 20 vehicles crossed the city of Rafah, close to the border with Egypt.

100 trucks were authorized to enter by Israeli forces, however, after the first 20, the corridor was closed and opened again only this morning.

The border between Egypt and Gaza was the target of bombings and is being recovered by Egyptian officials. Currently, dozens of trucks are waiting for the opportunity to cross the border and bring supplies to the population who are anxiously awaiting this assistance.

Israel had banned supplies, water and energy from entering Gaza. However, with an appeal from international authorities and after the visit of Joe Biden, President of the United States, to Tel Aviv, the entry of basic resources was authorized by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The confrontation between Israel and Hamas, which began on October 7, has already left more than 6,000 dead, according to the latest report from the Gaza Ministry of Health. The number of Palestinians killed is 4,651 and 13,500 injured in the Gaza Strip alone. Among Israelis, there are 1,402 dead and 4,000 injured. In the West Bank, there are also 69 victims and another 1,250 injured.
