The General Director of Civil Protection, Luis Alonso Amaya, explained that the shelter management has made 170 pre-equipped shelters available to the population nationwide, with the capacity to shelter more than 9,500 people in decent conditions. Additionally, if you have pets you can bring them to these spaces.

“Until today, we have 1 active shelter in Usulután, where 4 families are located, adding a total of 15 people (7 adults and 8 minors), this is part of the effort that the Government of President Nayib Bukele is making through the National Directorate of Shelters,” explained Amaya.

The head of Civil Protection assured that the Green Alert issued in the event of rain and storms is a function of preventing risks in all those areas considered vulnerable and that incidents occur during the winter season, therefore, they are prepared to respond in a timely manner.

Amaya reiterated that they provide comprehensive care to the people who arrive at the shelters and when the emergency passes they do not return home empty-handed.
