1744 White Alto, a crime comedy directed by Senna Hegde and starring Sharafuddin, Vinci, Rajesh Madhavan and Anand Manmathan, is all set for its international premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in January 2023. The 1744 White Alto was chosen as part of the famous “Harbor” program. The film is produced by Kabini Films, a new production house from Bangalore.

1744 White Alto was released in theaters in Kerala on November 18, 2022. The film was able to get a lot of critical acclaim and audience favor as a film that was very different through excellent making. The story unfolds through the hilarious and horrifying events that take place among petty crooks. As the title suggests, the main character is a Suzuki Alto car. The film is set in a fictional location somewhere in Kerala. The film has landscapes reminiscent of the Wild West, characters that expose social hypocrisies and excellent audio-visual treatment. Some called it an intellectual dark comedy and indicated that it was a new benchmark for Malayalam.

“The film is not necessarily for everyone; each person may come out with a different attitude. It is not cerebral; rather it is meant to entertain and provide a glimpse into human paradox”. Senna Hegde said. “Every character can be good and bad at the same time, morality is often a sliding scale especially in modern times. I tried to portray this in my own way,” added Senna. Rotterdam is comparable to other major European festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Locarno. Since the beginning, Rotterdam has been one that promotes innovative and diverse cinema.
