“National Bank supports a budget of B/.2,399.7 million for the year 2024”
Panama – National Bank of Panama supported its budget for 2024, which amounts to B/. 2,399.7 million. During his presentation, Javier Carrizo Esquivel, General Manager of the banking institution, reported that of this total it is planned to allocate B/.1,851.3 million to investments, giving main importance to loan placements aimed mainly at the private sector.
Of the total investments, it is expected to obtain B/.1,788.7 million in loan placements, which means 74.5% of the total budget. “This budget allows the Bank to support the growth of the Panamanian economy in a sustained manner,” said Carrizo Esquivel.
Banconal is an official banking entity that generates its own income. Consider, for the operating line, the sum of B/. 548.4 million. The main increase in expenses is in the line of financial expenses, as a result of the increase in interest rates. While, for the execution of other investments, such as works, constructions and equipment, B/.62.6 million was budgeted.

“As of July 31, 2023, Banconal has total assets in the order of B/.14,084.2 million, with a total loan portfolio of B/.6,511.9 million, total deposits of B/.10,974.9 million, obligations of B/. 1,480.6 million, other liabilities for B/.332.5 million and Capital fund for B/.1,296.2 million,” highlighted Carrizo Esquivel. In this sense, it is necessary to add that the profit as of this date is B/.173.0 million.
