179 for a liter of petrol and Rs. 174 for diesel; ‘We are not, you’; Shahbaz Sharif blames Imran Khan for fuel price hike

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday described the rise in fuel prices in the country.

It is alleged that the government decided to increase oil prices to address the economic crisis in the country. Shehbaz argued that the move was necessary to prevent the country from collapsing financially.

He blamed the previous Imran Khan government for Pakistan’s debt, inflation and financial crisis.

The price of petroleum products in the country was hiked by Rs 30 per liter on Thursday. According to the revised price, petrol will cost Rs 179.85 per liter and diesel Rs 174.15 per liter in the country. Kerosene also rose to 155.95.

Shehbaz, meanwhile, said he was saddened by the rise in oil prices and that there was no other way out due to the rise in prices in the global market.

He added that the price hike was to get assistance packages from the International Monetary Fund.

He blamed the current Shahbaz government, not the Imran Khan government, for all the crisis in the country.

“You made the deal with the IMF, not us. You agreed to their strict terms, not us.

You’re bothering people with inflation, not us. It was you who pushed the country into financial crisis, not us, ”said Shehbaz Sharif.

Speaking for the first time since taking office last month, Shehbaz described the country’s economic and domestic problems.
